Custom Earrings and Diamond by the Yard Necklace Makeover
Unsure of what to do with a diamond bracelet she no longer wore, plus an old ring mounting, this client turned to DOTK for a jewelry “makeover”. With an affinity for the allure of “Elsa Peretti” sexy diamond strands from the 70’s, it was decided to create two new pieces that the client could wear often. Twenty uniform, well cut diamonds were unset from the bangle bracelet, and two diamonds, weighing 1 carat each, were unset from the ring. The old gold mountings were applied as a scrap gold credit towards the new parts needed, plus labor to bezel set the diamonds by hand. It was decided that the larger diamonds become the focal point at the end of the drop earrings, where they could best be seen, with four of the twenty diamonds used as accents. The remaining eighteen diamonds were equally scattered through a new 14 karat gold cable chain, with extra chain length utilized for the dangle earrings. The client was amazed at what her old pieces yielded and now wears her new pieces every day!
